Brent Cross Shopping Centre to Rival Westfields

Brent Cross have recently revealed plans to develop the existing shopping centre to provide more shops, restuarabts and a cinema complex under a giant canopy.

The idea is to create a network of covered streets around London’s oldest shopping centre to help compete with Westfields centres at Shepherds Bush and Statford. The Westfields are attracting 70 million visitors per year and generating sales in the region of £2 billion. Brent Cross, opened in 1976 currently sees 14 million visitors per year.

The plans were first outlined in 2002, and planning was granted in 2010. Unfortunately the effects of the recession, saw the scheme put on hold, until now.
